We should be able to install multiple wiki syntaxes from plugins, and then choosing which one to use when editing contents.

Each wiki syntax whould have it's own handler for :
- converting from wikisyntax to storage
- converting storage to cacheable rendered data

It should also be possible to migrate contents from one wikisyntax to another one.

The first wikisyntax to be implemented may be wikimedia's one.

I would love to see such a feature implemented. I'm personally a big Markdown (extra) fan. Markdown is well supported in PHP since it has been natively developed for it: http://michelf.com/projects/php-markdown/extra/

Yes, I would also suggest something more sane than wikimedia syntax - Markdown, Textile and reStructuredText seem to be state of the art there. Markdown and Textile have well-supported PHP implementations but I doubt that you can really reuse them that much...
